Glen
Steliga
Returning
to Ukiah in 1979, Glen worked his way into becoming News Director for
K-Wine radio just one year after K-Wine became K-Wine. There followed
three exciting years with Glen breaking stories like the Timmy White kidnapping,
Jonesville formation and a trans- pacific balloon team landing on Mount
Sanhedren. After a hiatus from the mike, Steliga returned to his first
love and became K-Wine's first Sports Director in 1991.
Weekdays at 6:30 and 7:30 AM Glen Steliga settles into the sports desk
and whips through tons of scores and game highlights. It's the 49ers as
well as the Kelseyville Indians and it's Glen's irrepressible way of telling
us not just the scores but how and why things happen . Sometimes Steliga
uncovers a bit of local dirt on the local sports scene. It's too good
to miss.
Glen married a beautiful school teacher and started working on a mixed
basketball team of offspring. There are two daughters. (Glen coaches their
softball and basketball teams now.) The two boys are younger but destined
for the heritage of Glen's sporting tradition.
At home you might find him reading a biography on Edward R. Murrow or
digging some classic Monty Python reruns.
Glen Steliga is the voice of radio sports in Lake and Mendocino Counties.
No body does it like Glen.
